We are recruiting a Senior Analyst to play a key role in developing data and analytics for one of the most significant transformation programmes in the history of the Family Justice System. Cafcass’ Private Law Reform programme is reshaping how services are delivered to children and families, supporting the creation of Child Focused Courts across the Family Justice System in England.

This is a hands‑on senior technical build role requiring strong expertise in data architecture, data modelling, SQL development, Power BI and advanced Excel within a complex, multi‑source data environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build and maintain end‑to‑end data solutions from ingestion through to reporting.
  • Develop and optimise SQL‑based data pipelines and transformations.
  • Lead development of Power BI solutions, including data models (DAX) and performance optimisation.
  • Apply advanced Excel techniques to support modelling and analytical validation.
  • Integrate and model data from multiple systems ensuring governance, documentation and quality.
  • Develop automated, scalable reporting products.
  • Identify trends, risks and variation through advanced technical analysis.
  • Provide technical leadership and assurance on solution design.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Substantial technical experience (typically 5+ years).
  • Strong technical background in data architecture, modelling and reporting development.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Strong Power BI development expertise (including DAX).
  • Advanced Excel skills including complex modelling and data manipulation.
  • Experience across the full data lifecycle.
  • Ability to translate complex operational requirements into robust, scalable analytical and data solutions.
  • Working knowledge of modern data platforms and architectures (e.g., cloud‑based data warehousing, Fabric or equivalent technologies).
  • Awareness of AI and automation capabilities within Microsoft environments (e.g., Copilot, Power Platform, AI Builder or equivalent) and their application to analytical workflows.
  • Experience of developing or supporting automated data pipelines, reporting processes or workflow automation.
  • It may be an advantage if you have experience of working in the public sector and even better if you have experience of working within the Family Justice System.
  • Experience working within a significant transformation programme is desirable, but not essential.
Work Location and Travel

There will be some travel – we have 30+ offices across England – and you can also expect to meet with your manager and team at regular intervals in‑person, especially during your induction. You may also work remotely; we provide excellent equipment and technical support to accommodate this flexibility.
