What will be your role in the company?
The Repair Centre Technician is responsible for overseeing the management, maintenance, and repair of capital spares across CAF Rail UK’s Central Stores, the OH facility, and external storage locations. This role safeguards the technical integrity of safety‑critical and high‑value components by ensuring they are correctly preserved, maintained, repaired, and controlled in line with CAF standards, engineering requirements, and audit obligations. Acting as a central technical link between Stores, Engineering, Projects, and Quality, the technician leads rotation campaigns, coordinates internal repairs, and manages controlled cannibalisations. The position plays a vital role in maintaining asset availability, traceability, and compliance—particularly during audit periods—while contributing to continuous improvement across stores processes and spares governance.
What will make you successful in this position?
- NVQ Level 3 or higher in a relevant mechanical or electrical discipline.
- Experience in a technical stores, maintenance, overhaul, or engineering environment (rail desirable).
- Proven ability to manage safety‑critical or capital spares with strict traceability requirements.
- Knowledge of component preservation, rotation, inspection, and basic repair tasks.
- Experience supporting audits and working within regulated quality systems.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, part numbers, and engineering specifications.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and compliance.
- Organised, methodical, and disciplined in managing work and documentation.
