What will be your role in the company?

The Overhaul Facility Production Manager is responsible for the facility management, care and maintenance of the facility as well as being the leader of the production operations for component overhauls — including bogies, wheelsets, traction motors, gearboxes, couplers, PWPs and HVAC systems. This role is responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day activities of the production team, ensuring that safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery targets are consistently met. Also in charge of ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, organization and 5S on the shop floor. Reporting directly to the Head of UK Overhaul, you will play a key role in the setup of this brand-new CAF Project in the UK. The role involves close coordination with colleagues in the Engineering and Materials department as well as clients. During the setup phase of the facility, the PM will play a key role in reviewing and supporting the layout design, specifying equipment, tools, and system as well as ensuring the operational team receives robust training on the procedures, instructions, and know the Bill Of Materials of the applicable activities and tasks.

What salary will you be paid for this role?

As a Real Living Wage employer for this role you will be offered a competitive salary, between £60k - £70k per annum, plus benefits, depending on your skills and experience.

What will make you successful in this position?

  • PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Level 4/5 in Engineering Degree is desirable. Exceptionally level 3 in Engineering with strong and relevant experience may also be considered. Significant experience in production and people management in a heavy engineering or rail environment. Proven experience in planning, leadership, and delivering high-quality outputs on time. Familiarity with component overhauls, depot/facility maintenance, or workshop operations. Experience in setting up or scaling up production environments is desirable. Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is highly desirable. Familiarity in Total Productive Maintenance and Autonomous Maintenance is desirable.
  • PERSONAL SKILLS: Strong planning and organizational capabilities. Highly goal-oriented with a strong focus on achieving and exceeding targets. Self-motivated and initiative-taking with initiative to work to achieve results effectively. Able to perform effectively under stressful conditions while multitasking. Leadership skills and the ability to motivate others to meet deadlines. Ability to act decisively and solve employee, system, or equipment-related problems. Team player - works collaboratively and uses influence to gain resolution of issues. Adaptable - able to manage change and remain flexible to individual situations. Practical problem-solver with a structured decision-making approach. Skilled communicator across diverse cultural and technical environments.
