About the Role

The Corrective Technician is responsible for fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and corrective maintenance on a modern fleet of trains, primarily across electrical, electronic, and auxiliary systems. The role involves the use of electrical schematics, diagnostic software, and test equipment to identify failures and restore train functionality safely and efficiently within a depot environment, in line with company procedures and safety standards. This is a safety‑critical role, requiring strong technical expertise, problem‑solving skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and flexibility to work shifts and travel when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and conduct root‑cause analysis using schematics, diagnostic software, and test equipment.
  • Perform corrective maintenance to restore train functionality while adhering to safety and company procedures.
  • Work within a depot environment and support a modern fleet of trains across electrical, electronic, and auxiliary systems.
  • Collaborate with teams and work independently as needed.
  • Perform tasks during night shifts, following a 4 on 4 off working pattern.

Requirements

  • Level 3 engineering qualification or higher (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in fault finding and root‑cause analysis.
  • Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematic diagrams.
  • Experience using diagnostic software and test/measurement equipment.
  • Full UK driving licence (manual).
  • Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification (Sentinel card) or the ability to obtain it.
  • Availability for night shifts (4 on 4 off).

Salary

Competitive salary in the region of £63,000 per annum.
