We are recruiting a Library Assistant at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 1 x 37 hours / 1 x 18 hours / 1 x 17 hours / 1 x 13 hours / 1 x 6 hours Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st March 2026 - 1 x Full Time / 4 x Part Time Location: Various Library Sites Team: Library Services This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £25,583 - £25,989 (37 hours) / £12,445 - £12,643 (18 hours) / £11,754 - £11,940 (17 hours) / £8,988 - £9,131 (13 hours) / £4,184 - £4,214 (6 hours) and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Caerphilly Library Service are seeking applications for Library Assistant’s in the following Libraries: Caerphilly Library - 37 hours Caerphilly Library - 18 hours Bargoed Library - 13 hours Risca Palace Library - 17 hours Risca Palace Library - 6 hours These hours will be worked on a rotating basis, if you require further information on the available hours, please contact the recruiting manager using the details provided below.

The post involves working with other members of staff in a busy environment, or at times, lone-working at a single-staffed service point, providing a wide range of services to the public.

Duties will be all of those associated with the day to day running of the library, including the issue, return and shelving of books, assisting with ICT, receipt of monies and dealing with personal and telephone enquiries.

The library is a designated Welsh language reception point.

This post requires the successful post holder to converse with customers in the medium of Welsh.

A spoken knowledge of Welsh would be desirable but not essential and Caerphilly CBC will support staff to undertake Welsh language training.

For the role, we ask that you have: Minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A-C (or equivalent). Good Literacy and Numeracy Skills.

Knowledge and understanding of role and of services offered by the public library service.
