About the Role
We are recruiting a Kitchen Auditor at Caerphilly County Borough Council. Working hours: 37 hours per week. Contract type: permanent, full time, term time only (39 working weeks). Location: Ty Penallta/Various Locations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organisation. Salary: £23,221 - £24,751 Grade 5 (SCP7 - SCP11) (£26,403 - £28,142). We also offer access to training and development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- As a Kitchen Auditor, you will work independently across multiple sites, carrying out scheduled and unannounced audits to ensure compliance with food safety legislation, hygiene standards, operational procedures, and quality expectations.
- You will provide constructive feedback, support staff to maintain excellent standards, and help drive continuous improvement across the service.
- The ideal candidate will be energetic, confident, and able to manage their own workload effectively while building positive working relationships with catering teams, headteachers, and kitchen staff.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with integrity and professionalism are essential.
- Access to a vehicle and the ability to travel across the county borough is essential.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example, Level 2 NVQ Customer Service, Administration, NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, GCSEs Grades A*-C, Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience of working in a catering service.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with catering staff, headteachers, business managers and Environmental Health Officers.
