Overview

We are recruiting an Income Assessment Assistant at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37

Contract Type: 2 x Full Time, Permanent

Contract Type: 1 x Full Time, Fixed Term until 31st March 2027

Location: Office based / Home working / Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

Team: Finance (Social Services)

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £26,403 – £28,142 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a proactive individual to complete financial assessments for client contributions towards social care services.

You will collect and validate financial information, check entitlement to benefits, and refer cases to the DWP where necessary to help maximise clients’ income.

Requirements

  • Effective communication with clients and their representatives.
  • Strong IT skills and experience in a financial environment.
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs Grade A*-C to include Mathematics and English Language or equivalent relevant qualifications on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales which require the same level of ability in Mathematics and English Language.
  • Good IT skills and ability to demonstrate proficiency in a range of Microsoft packages, especially Word and Excel.
  • Previous administrative experience which includes dealing with the public.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business/work purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit service users and/or their representatives in their own homes and attend meetings.
