The Mental Health Support Service is looking to recruit a full time Senior Mental Health Worker in a permanent position. Based within Adult Services, the team supports individuals with complex mental health needs, using a trauma informed, recovery focused approach to promote wellbeing, prevent deterioration, and maximise independence. The team works closely with secondary services (Community Mental Health Teams) as well as other partners and agencies within the borough to support those experiencing serious and persistent mental distress along with individuals with autism and ADHD.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will have experience of working with individuals with mental health issues and neurodivergence and will have a strong understanding of recovery focused and strengths based practice.
  • Candidates will need to have the ability to support and mentor other colleagues and have the ability to manage risk.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • To be in receipt of or be committed to attaining QCF 4 in Care (formerly NVQ) and 5 GCSEs or equivalent.
  • An understanding of the issues faced by people with mental health issues.
  • The ability to form and maintain good relationships with the service user, family and carers.
