We are recruiting a Day Services Assistant at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 25

Contract Type: Part Time, Fixed Term until June 2026

Location: Various Locations in the Borough

Team: Adult Services

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization. We pay an attractive salary of £17,839 - £19,014 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Do you want to work with people and make a difference to their lives from the support you provide? An exciting opportunity has arisen in our team for a fixed term Day Services Assistant to work in our Community Team. You will work peripatetically within our Community Team, which will mean that you will provide cover for the existing staff team when they are not in the workplace. Our Community Team provides sessional support enabling individuals to access activities of their choice within their local communities.

The main purpose of the role is to consider the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of any individual receiving support—while making peoples’ sessions enjoyable and meaningful. A person-centred approach ensures opportunities to promote independence, maintain friendships and improve wellbeing.

To ensure our services are maintained, all day service assistants will need to work flexibly with us to ensure the level of support required is available. This means the ability to work over a 7-day period is an essential requirement of the role, including weekend and evening working. You may be required to work in any area within the County Borough during your working week.

Community-based staff require a Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and a motor vehicle insured for business/work to transport individuals throughout the county borough.

Key Qualifications

  • A Level 2 qualification in Care on the Credit and Qualifications Framework, or the commitment and ability to attain the qualification within 1 year of appointment (subject to availability of training).
  • Understanding of disability issues such as empowerment, choice and advocacy.
  • Experience of working in a care setting.
