We are recruiting a Building Control Surveyor at Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Overview
Working hours: 37 hours per week.
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent.
Location: Penallta House.
Team: Planning Services – Building Control. This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.
Salary range: £35,412 – £38,220. Other benefits include access to training and development opportunities, the Local Government Pension Scheme, agile working patterns and staff discount schemes.
Responsibilities
The post is a full‑time permanent position. The successful candidate will proactively manage a complex Building Control caseload with minimal supervision, including responsibility for dealing with dangerous structures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- At least three years’ experience working as a Building Control Surveyor, or working towards becoming one via a trainee/apprenticeship post.
- Relevant Level 4, 5 or 6 qualification (e.g., Public Service Building Control Surveying Diploma or Degree in a construction‑related subject).
- Registered as a Class 2 or 3 Building Inspector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Building Regulations and supporting Approved Documents.
- Ability to work precisely and effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
- Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and a motor vehicle insured for business/work purposes for travel throughout the borough.
