Overview

We are recruiting Assistant Educational Psychologists at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours (7.24 Monday – Friday)

Contract Type: Full Time, Fixed term until 31st March 2026, with the possibility of extension to the end of August 2026.

Location and Team

Location: Ty Penallta / Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

Role outline

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of Β£36,109 – Β£38,774 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

We are seeking to recruit 5 Assistant Educational Psychologist (AEP) to compliment and strengthen our existing team. The roles will have a focus on co-preparing and co-delivering wellbeing interventions and training to schools and service evaluation.

The postholder will work in consultation with teachers, support staff and parents(s)/carer(s), to devise strategies to positively modify pupil behaviour and assist schools in setting pupil targets, working towards agreed goals aimed at promoting positive behaviour and improving learning opportunities for pupils.

Qualifications

  • An Honours Degree in Psychology acceptable for membership of the BPS.
  • Knowledge of a range of applied psychological approaches and interventions.
  • Experience in relation to working effectively with children and young people who are vulnerable, challenging or who have ALN.
  • A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough in line with case load and diary commitments.
