Caecillian has been through a period of sustained growth. As a result, the business is forming three distinct business units which will be the delivery arms of the business going forward; Gas, Water Capital and Water & Wastewater Reactive Works. The new structure aims to enhance collaboration, streamline processes, and support both our current operations and future ambitions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our journey and help shape the organisation as we move into the next phase of development.

As Head of Water Capital Delivery within our Senior Leadership Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Caecillian’s water capital business. Your key responsibilities will include overseeing the end-to-end management and execution of our capital projects, driving the timely and efficient delivery of strategic investment programmes that underpin our business objectives. At present, a significant portion of our operations focuses on Water Mains Replacement, Large Diameter diversions, supplemented by minor capital schemes. AMP8 is an exciting time for the water industry and we as a business want to build on our ability to deliver large infrastructure projects on behalf of our clients. Our ambition is to expand this business unit substantially over the next five years. This will involve not only maintaining our strong performance in existing workstreams but also taking on larger scale projects, including the delivery of new pipelines, upgrades and developments to networks, and managing more complex and technically challenging infrastructure initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in enabling this growth, ensuring Caecillian continues to deliver safe, reliable and innovative solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the planning and delivery of water capital projects, ensuring alignment with Caecillian’s business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, including feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to facilitate collaborative working and effective project delivery.
  • Champion innovation, continuous improvement, and best practice in capital delivery, supporting Caecillian’s commitment to sustainability and value for money.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, and safety.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and performance metrics to the board of directors and other relevant parties.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout project delivery.
  • Maintain a risk register for the business unit highlighting any risks and mitigation actions in place.
  • Look to grow the business unit over the coming years with a target of achieving c. £20m of annual revenue whilst maintaining margins in line with the business plan.
  • Full profit and loss responsibility for the business unit.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in leading large-scale capital delivery programmes within the water sector.
  • Proven track record of winning work and growing a contract or business unit.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, safety standards, and best practice in infrastructure delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must have experience working with Water Companies and Large Tier 1 Contractors within the UK and have existing relationships with individuals within one or more of these organisations.
  • Track record of driving operational efficiency and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Possess good IT Skills with the ability to use common applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and across business units.
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, project management, or a related discipline.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging between £80,000 and £100,000 based on experience along with a bonus and comprehensive benefits package including company vehicle or car allowance.
