Candidate Responsibilities
The IT Security Officer (ITSO) plays a critical role in safeguarding an Information Systemâs assets and data from threat and breaches, ensuring business continuity and minimizing the risk of security incidents. In addition to standard IT System Administration tasks, ITSO is also responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures to ensure the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA) of an organizationâs information assets and data.
Critical Responsibilities
- Perform IT systems administration tasks including patching, ICT security, user
management and more
- Analysis of system and security event logs
- Assist IT Security Manager (ITSM) and Cyber Security Specialist to maintain and
improve security posture as per the strategic security plan.
- Security incident reporting and analysis
- Perform security risk assessments
- Assess security control effectiveness.
- Perform regular security audits
- Identify cyber security risks and implement security controls.
Knowledge & Skill requirement
- Bachelorâs degree in cyber security / information technology OR related experience.
- 5+ yearsâ experience as an IT Systems & Security Administrator.
- Extensive experience in Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, network devices and protocols
- Experience with Australian Information Security Manual (ISM), Defense Security Principles
Framework (DSPF) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)

Security Requirements
As the Australian Department of Défense is a major client, you must be eligible for SECRET (NV1) level Défense security clearance, and preferably already hold a current SECRET (NV1) clearance.
