The Training System Integrated Solution Leader (ISL) is part of a small team of senior training development experts responsible for designing complete end-to-end solutions for training systems used by defence forces and para-military organisations around the world, leveraging CAE’s core simulation technologies along with best-in-class teaching methodologies and tools. The targeted end-user base includes air, naval and land forces domains.
In close collaboration with CAE’s worldwide network of domain experts and industry partners, the ISL leads the definition of training solutions at the very early stages of customer needs definition, helping to shape and influence requirements for complete training programmes that can include individual, team and collective training.
The ISL is responsible for ensuring that the comprehensive integrated training solution delivers state-of-the-art and cost-effective training that is optimised to meet customer requirements throughout the entire life cycle of the training programme. These solutions integrate the full spectrum of the training continuum, from academic and simulation-based synthetic training up to a full live-virtual-constructive (LVC) environment that can support complex immersive mission rehearsal scenarios.
Duties & Responsibilities- Lead the definition of fully integrated Training Solutions from the early stages of customer interactions (pre-RFP), through the Capture and Proposal phases, all the way to contract award.
- Act as the main focal point and Design Authority on training solutions for all internal and external stakeholders, including customers and the end-user community.
- Participate in training product R&D road map definitions to outline strategies to meet today's and future customers' training needs through best-in-class learning methodologies and tools, while reducing training development and delivery costs.
- Provide leadership to the Capture Teams on large training system integration (TSI) opportunities to develop various aspects of the proposed solution, including; Direct initial Training Task, Training Needs and Training Media Analysis and Training Curriculum Design in partnership with the technical leads, learning specialists, domain experts (SMEs) and customer authorities.
- Leverage CAE technologies, standard products and sub-contractor capabilities in the design of a cohesive and optimal integrated training solution.
- Leverage modern tools and multi-disciplinary teams to perform Training Solution design within the applicable training development processes.
- Work with System Architects to ensure training requirements are well defined and are clearly derived into engineering and courseware requirements, with their associated objective verification and validation criteria.
- In collaboration with Program Management, define a winning execution strategy for major opportunities including make-buy analysis, strategic partner selection and workshare definition, considering any in-country/offset requirements.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive Solution Reviews to all stakeholders to clearly communicate the winning strategies and end-to-end technical, programmatic and commercial solutions.
- Facilitate, consolidate and validate the cost estimating and risk analysis from the different stakeholders.
- Identify potential execution and deliverable issues, concerns and risks associated with the overall training solution design, deployment and delivery phases.
- Interface with customers and end-users to present and review training solutions, primarily during the pre-contract award business capture phases.
- Minimum of 15 years of related experience in industry and/or military service, with 10 years focused on the development and/or delivery of training programmes in an operational and/or maintenance capacity for the defence sector.
- Canadian Forces experience highly desirable.
- Relevant experience leading large training development, training integration or engineering projects.
- Knowledgeable of training development processes.
- System Approach to Training (SAT & DSAT) and Instructional Systems Design.
- Science of learning, adult learning, e-learning, etc.
- Excellent oral & written communication and presentation skills.
- Good ability to develop capture strategies and proposal storyboards, leveraging winning themes and discriminators.
- Good business acumen and political savvy.
- Knowledge of systems engineering development processes.
- Experience in large project management is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of CAE's training solutions approach and of CAE’s modelling and simulation systems is considered an asset.
- Availability to travel internationally up to 5% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain and retain Canadian and NATO Secret Security Clearances.
