This is a varied and hands‑on role, ideal for a structural engineer who enjoys problem‑solving, communicating technical concepts, and working closely with both customers and developers. As a 1st Line Support Engineer / Software Applications Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for technical queries relating to the CADS software suite. You will help customers get the most from our tools, provide valuable feedback to our development team, and support pre‑ and post‑sales activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first‑line technical support across the full CADS software range
  • Assist customers with modelling, analysis, design, and interpretation of results
  • Deliver software demonstrations, training sessions, and webinars (online and occasionally in person)
  • Support pre‑sales and post‑sales technical enquiries
  • Work closely with the development team by testing software, reporting issues, and suggesting improvements
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify opportunities for upselling and customer growth
  • Build strong, long‑term relationships with customers
  • Actively promote CADS’ design and detailing applications within the engineering community

Required Skills and Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Chartered or near‑chartered Structural Engineer
  • Typically 3–5+ years’ industry experience in structural engineering
  • Strong applied technical knowledge and sound engineering judgement
  • Confident IT user, particularly within Windows environments
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
  • A structured, methodical, and customer‑focused approach
  • Genuine interest in engineering software and digital tools

Desirable Skills (but not essential)

  • Experience in geotechnical or civil engineering design
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and modelling software such as CADS design suite, Dlubal, or similar (training will be provided where required)
  • Experience delivering training or technical presentations
