For our client, we are seeking a skilled and experienced General Ultrasound and Echocardiography Technician to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services. The successful candidate will perform a range of general ultrasound exams (excluding obstetrics) and echocardiograms to support the diagnosis and management of patient conditions. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to patient care, and effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct Sonography examinations in accordance with relevant protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Uses proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques.
- Applies independent, professional, ethical judgment and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic Sonography procedures.
- Reviews examination images, synthesises examination results, and prepares the preliminary findings.
- Refers specific diagnostic treatment or prognosis questions to the appropriate Physician or healthcare professional.
- Operates and maintains Imaging support equipment (Probes, Trophon, etcetera) in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assists with the daily operation of the Sonography Facility.
- Supports on-call and stand-by to patient care areas.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent technical knowledge and ability to perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Strong patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Echocardiography program.
- Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent.
- Specialty certifications in relevant areas (e.g., vascular, breast, musculoskeletal) preferred.
- Echocardiography certification (e.g., RDCS or RCS) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current registration with the Bermuda Council For Allied Health Professions (CAHP).
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in general ultrasound (thyroid, breast, joints, soft tissues, pelvis, prostate, vascular) and echocardiography.
- Familiarity with non-obstetric pelvic and vascular imaging techniques is essential.
- Level 3 RDMS or RDCS OR RVT OR RMSKS.
- In addition to Level 1 or 2 certification, the Sonographer must have certification in the following areas: Vascular, Breast, Musculoskeletal, Paediatric Echo, Fetal Echo, Paediatric Sonography.
