As a Senior Export and Import Operator, you will play a key role within the Shipping Team by supporting the development and continuous improvement of the department’s objectives. You will be responsible for managing and administering all export processes—including those related to exhibitions—and, when required, coordinating exhibition imports to ensure smooth, compliant, and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities- Keep up-to-date on all HMRC, other legislation and company procedures, complete all necessary documentation and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure that all practical arrangements for export and import shipments are made; liaise with clients and work with transport, packing and storage departments.
- Complete export & import documentation for airfreight, sea freight and exhibition shipments.
- Make quotations within a timely manner.
- Invoice shipments in a timely manner.
- Keep clients informed at all stages of their shipments and provide all relevant documentation.
- When necessary and requested by client, oversee other aspects of shipping processes including local storage and import work.
- Attend operations meetings.
- Maintain and update Art Logistics internal shared documents covering all imports.
- Comply with the requirements within Art Logistics Staff Operations Handbook and Quality Management System.
- Arrange collections and deliveries with the client in consultation with the transport manager and make practical arrangements directly with clients to ensure smooth collections and deliveries as required.
- Arrange packing as required in a suitable manner, supplying the packing room department with full packing sheets and relevant information.
- In-depth knowledge of international shipping, import/export procedures, and HMRC compliance.
- Experience with airfreight, sea freight, road transport and exhibition shipments.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex shipments simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record management.
- Strong client communication skills, with the ability to manage expectations and build trust.
- Proactive problem-solving and decision-making in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across transport, packing, and storage departments.
