Due to continued growth, Cadnant Planning is seeking to appoint a Planner and/or Senior Planner to join our expanding consultancy team. We are a small, close-knit practice delivering an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects across North Wales and Cheshire, including involvement in major infrastructure schemes alongside a broad range of residential, commercial, rural and mixed-use developments. This is an opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility within a supportive environment where your contribution will directly influence projects and clients.
The Role
You will work as part of a planning consultancy team alongside Directors and senior colleagues, contributing across all stages of the development and planning process. The role offers exposure to varied and often complex projects, requiring a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
The position will provide the opportunity to work on key projects across the region, including:
- Tourism and leisure projects
- Commercial and industrial developments
- Projects that support thriving town centres and local economies
- Education-related developments
- Major infrastructure and strategic development proposals
Key aspects include:
- Preparing and managing a range of planning applications and appraisals, including specialist planning reports and documents, often working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary project team
- Supporting the delivery of major and local development projects
- Site promotion work in relation to emerging Development Plans
- Liaising with clients, local planning authorities and consultees
- Contributing to project strategy and problem-solving
Because of the diversity of our workload, a proven ability to manage your own time, prioritise effectively, and resolve issues independently is essential.
About You
We are looking for motivated individuals committed to a career in planning and development, with strong technical grounding and commercial awareness.
- Minimum 2:1 (or equivalent) at undergraduate level
- MRTPI status achieved (for Senior Planner) or actively working towards chartership
- Strong analytical, report writing and presentation skills
- Clear commitment to the planning and property development sector
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team
- Commercial awareness, with an interest in marketing, client engagement and innovation
Preferred requirements:
- Ideally, a Master’s degree in an RTPI accredited subject
- Ability to confidently speak and communicate through the medium of Welsh together with good written skills in Welsh
- Experience level will determine whether the appointment is made at the Planner or Senior Planner level.
