We are seeking ambitious, driven individuals to join our team through two exciting apprenticeship pathways at our Silverstone facility. These opportunities provide hands-on experience within elite motorsport while developing specialist engineering skills through structured training programmes.
- Model Technician Apprentice
- We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Model Technician Apprentice to join our Aerodynamics department in partnership with The Engineering Trust. This apprenticeship provides the chance to develop specialist engineering and model-making expertise while contributing to the precision models used within our wind tunnel testing programme — an essential part of Formula 1® car development.
- Assist in the manufacture of detailed wind tunnel components using 3D printing, CNC processes, and hand-finishing techniques.
- Interpret CAD models and engineering drawings to produce highly accurate parts and assemblies.
- Support the assembly, modification, and maintenance of aerodynamic test models within a wind tunnel environment.
- Learn and apply key workshop processes including trimming, bonding, part preparation, spray finishing, and precision fitting.
- Work with a variety of materials including composites, rapid prototyping materials, and metals.
- Test Technician Apprentice
- The Test Technician Apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to develop within a world-class motorsport environment, supporting the performance, reliability, and safety of vehicle systems and components through rigorous testing and validation.
- Assist in performing tests on vehicle systems and components while learning how to document results accurately.
- Become compliant with quality and safety regulations during testing procedures.
- Support the engineering team in troubleshooting and resolving issues identified during testing.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing protocols and procedures.
- Consistently follow Health & Safety, Compliance, Sustainability policies, and best practices.
Training Provider: The Engineering Trust. This apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with The Engineering Trust. Attend day-release sessions one day per week at The Engineering Trust’s Bicester campus. Work towards a Level 3 Diploma Engineering Fitter Standard – Model Maker qualification. Develop both traditional and advanced model-making, manufacturing, and engineering workshop skills through practical learning and specialist training. Receive support from experienced instructors, dedicated assessors, and industry professionals while gaining hands-on experience within the Cadillac Formula 1® Team Aerodynamics department.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (grade 4/C or above), including Maths and English.
- A genuine interest in motorsport, engineering, manufacturing, or model making.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent practical hand skills.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn within a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to develop technical expertise.
- Previous hands-on experience with model kits, workshop projects, engineering design, or technical hobbies would be advantageous, though not essential.
