We have an opportunity for a Senior Model Design Engineer to join the Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will work within a group of skilled design engineers in delivering quality designed 60% model parts for Wind Tunnel testing, to support the aerodynamic performance development of the team's race cars. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Deliver high quality designed parts for Wind Tunnel testing.
  • Responsible for complete design projects, including part creation, management, checking, fault prevention and resolution, as well as project documentation.
  • Continually improving the quality and functionality of the model parts/assemblies to improve the efficiency of the Wind Tunnel test program.
  • Support development and maintaining improved methods of working.
  • Work closely with Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to ensure the delivered parts meet the specified requirements.
  • Help mentor junior members of the group and support pushing forward methodologies and modelling improvements.
  • Support the management of standard design practices, ensuring these are adhered to.
  • Occasional travel may be required as part of this role.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering/Design/Motorsport) or similar.
  • Multiple years' relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
  • Extensive experience with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of part quality, model layout and robustness.
  • Possess a high level of understanding of parametric modelling techniques.
  • Ability to apply structural engineering techniques for part validation (FEA).
  • Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques including composite manufacture and advanced digital manufacture.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GD&T and its application.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
  • Clear and concise communication.
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
