The Cadillac Formula 1 Team is what happens when history, purpose and daring talent come together. Backed by TWG Global and GM, our team is uniquely positioned to disrupt Formula 1, bringing a fresh perspective and an unrelenting drive for success. We have the energy of a start-up, with the ideas and originality of a business that always wants to lead, never wants to follow. We're building everything from the ground up, from a high-performance car to an inclusive, values-driven culture.
Purpose of the Role: The Build Specification Engineer will own and manage the car's documented technical definition and build specifications across all events. This role is responsible for defining what is fitted to each car, when it is fitted, and in what configuration, recognizing that specifications may vary from race to race. You will act as the central coordination point, aligning design, production, assembly, and race operations to ensure technical coherence and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Owning the build specification of each car for each event, including rig and dyno events, recognizing that cars and assemblies may differ in configuration race-to-race.
- Defining what components are fitted to which car, when, and in what specification, including tracking configuration differences.
- Acting as the central interface between Design Engineering, Production and Manufacturing, Assembly and Build Engineering, Race Team and Trackside Operations.
- Liaising with production teams to understand part availability, manufacturing timelines, constraints or risks to delivery.
- Ensuring that the correct quantity of parts is available and allocated appropriately across cars and events.
- Communicating build specifications and UIIL information clearly to all relevant stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure alignment and avoid ambiguity.
Requirements:
- Experienced engineer with a strong understanding of a modern Formula 1 car.
- Comfortable owning and developing a role with minimal guidance/assistance.
- Confident working cross-functionally and asking the right questions.
- Strong communicator; proactive rather than reactive.
- Understands production processes (composites, machining, assembly) at a system level.
