We have an opportunity for a Senior Surface Design Engineer to join the team at our Silverstone facility. In this role, you will work within a group of highly creative and skilled design engineers to deliver high‑quality surface geometry models to aid the aerodynamic development of the team’s race car. We aspire to be the absolute best in every aspect of our team. - Deliver high‑quality and complex surface geometry models for CFD, Wind Tunnel, and full‑size release.
- Work closely with Aerodynamicists to understand the definition and scope of all new surfaces, including modeling and construction approach.
- Liaise with model designers to ensure efficient implementation of aerodynamic projects.
- Support with the release of aero surface geometry to the full‑size car design office.
- Liaise with full‑size car designers to create high‑quality surface geometry for full‑size release.
- Mentor junior members of the group and support pushing forward methodologies and modeling improvements.
- Support the implementation of standard design practices.
What do you need to bring to the team?
- A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering / Design / Motorsport) or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
- Strong knowledge and understanding of surface quality, model layout and robustness, as well as a high level of understanding of surfacing and parametric modeling techniques.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
- Ability to line manage / lead teams effectively.
- Clear and concise communication, verbally and written, including with key stakeholders and directors.
- Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
