Cadent Gas Ltd Job Purpose Key Responsibilities We’re seeking a skilled E&I Senior Design Assurance Engineer to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant design for new and replacement assets particularly those connected to biomethane and other gas sources. You will provide assurance that the electrical, instrumentation and telemetry systems are designed, constructed and commissioned in accordance with legislative requirements, industry standards, Company policies, procedures and standards. The role will provide technical expertise and critical design assurance oversight to the Future Energy Connections Team, ensuring that designs meet all applicable standards and are fit for purpose. You will also play a key role in verifying third-party assets design packs, ensuring their readiness for biomethane connections. Working proactively, you will identify and mitigate potential risks to safeguard Cadent’s network and reputation. Collaboration will be key, as you engage with teams across Networks, Engineering, Energy Operations, and Capital Delivery to drive the future of energy connections. You will also support the review and acceptance of commissioning and operational records, ensuring alignment with our quality management system. Skills and Experience We're looking for someone with experience in working on electrical, instrumentation and telemetry systems in particular within a gas transmission, distribution, oil and gas, process or petrochemical environment. Proficiency in interpreting electrical and instrumentation engineering drawings is key and you will also need a strong understanding of Management of Change processes, functional safety, and process safety hazard studies. To thrive in this role, you will need to bring excellent organisational and project management skills, the ability to influence across different functions, and a flexible approach to managing changing priorities. A passion for continuous improvement and innovation is key. What You’ll Need: Education: HNC/HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering. Technical Expertise: Strong ability to interpret and clearly present complex technical data and issues. Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Amtech Design Calculations and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Regulatory Compliance: Comprehensive knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) 2002. Certifications: Up-to-date certification in BS7671 Wiring Regulations. Hazardous Environment Experience: Demonstrated experience in working on or designing electrical equipment for hazardous environments (e.g., CompEx certification). IT/OT Infrastructure: Familiarity with IT/OT systems, including SCADA. Driving Requirements: Possession of a full, valid UK driving licence. It’d  also be great if you had: Professional Recognition: Working towards or holding professional accreditation with a relevant body (CEng, IEng, or equivalent). Design Software Skills: Experience with AutoCAD. Leadership Experience: Previous supervisory role in an electrical engineering setting, overseeing one or more areas such as design, installations, or maintenance
