Maintain and protect the infrastructure that keeps our gas network flowing safely. As our Lead Gas Engineer PC&S, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining and safeguarding Cadent’s high‑pressure gas infrastructure. This isn’t just about fixing faults – it’s about ensuring the continued safety, reliability and performance of the assets that keep our network running.

Working within our Energy Operations team, you’ll take ownership of maintenance and inspection activity across pressure control and storage assets. You’ll operate across a wide geographical area, delivering hands‑on work, responding to system alerts and providing expert guidance to protect our infrastructure from third‑party impact. This is a 12‑month secondment role that is dynamic and field‑based where you’ll combine technical expertise with professional judgement to ensure safety, compliance and operational excellence. As this role requires regular travel across the network, a full UK driving licence is essential.

What you’ll bring

  • Operational Experience – Hands‑on experience in pipeline maintenance, plant operations or a similar environment.
  • Technical Capability – Solid understanding of mechanical operations and maintenance practices.
  • Qualifications – Mechanical or Engineering Maintenance qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
  • Flexibility – Willingness to work flexible hours (approximately 40 per week) and participate in standby arrangements.
  • Mobility – Ability to travel across the network as required.
  • Safety Mindset – Strong awareness of safety, compliance and working within regulated environments.
