Cadent is looking for a dedicated Network Technician to join the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) team within the Energy Operations directorate. In this hands‑on role you will maintain, modify, and repair E&I systems across gas transportation assets, ensuring safe and efficient network operations.

Location Requirement

Based in or around Leicester, Nottingham, Bourne, Northampton, Boston, or Kettering. A full UK driving licence is essential; a vehicle will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Asset Health – Assess and report on the condition of E&I equipment and systems.
  • Maintenance & Repairs – Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to ensure system reliability.
  • Timely Delivery – Complete work efficiently and in line with statutory requirements.
  • Standby Support – Participate in the E&I standby rota to maintain service continuity.
  • Contractor Oversight – Supervise third‑party work to ensure safety and quality standards.
  • Team Collaboration – Work closely with colleagues across Cadent to support operational excellence.

What You’ll Bring

  • Skilled technician with a strong background in electrical and instrumentation systems, or a skilled electrician wishing to advance in instrumentation.
  • Experience – Proven experience in an Electrical / Instrumentation / GQ&M environment, including inspection and testing of systems on gas pressure reduction sites.
  • Technical Knowledge – Familiarity with E&I technical standards, maintenance procedures, and relevant codes of practice.
  • Legislation Awareness – Understanding of BS7671, EAWR, and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Qualifications – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671); City & Guilds 2394/95 or BTEC or equivalent in Instrumentation and Controls; approved apprenticeship.
  • Certifications – COMPEX EX01–04 preferred.
  • Team Player – Able to work independently and collaboratively with a proactive approach.
