Drawing on your expertise, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with business, regulatory and industry requirements.

This isn't just about engineering design - it's about leading multidisciplinary teams, managing technical risk, influencing key stakeholders and ensuring engineering excellence throughout the project lifecycle. You'll provide technical expertise and guidance to operational teams, supporting the resolution of complex E&I challenges and ensuring maintenance, modification and capital works are delivered in accordance with safety, technical, commercial and legislative requirements.

Working closely with operational and engineering colleagues, you'll undertake E&I design reviews, support competency assessments of technicians and contractors, contribute to the development and review of technical training materials, and help maintain and improve engineering procedures, standards and best practice across the business. You'll also support research and technology development initiatives, driving innovation and the adoption of new technologies that improve asset performance, operational efficiency and long‑term business outcomes.

Through technical leadership, mentoring and collaboration, you'll help develop engineering capability while ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability and compliance are maintained across our network.

Why you'll love this role

  • Strategic Influence - Shape technical strategies for compression, flow control and pressure control systems while influencing key engineering decisions across the business.
  • Operational Excellence - Act as a trusted technical expert, supporting operational teams to resolve complex E&I challenges, improve asset performance and ensure safe, reliable network operations.

  • Technical Authority & Governance - Provide expert oversight of E&I standards, procedures, competency assessments and design reviews, ensuring engineering activities consistently meet statutory, technical and business requirements.
  • Innovation & Asset Improvement - Support research, technology development and the adoption of digital engineering tools that enhance asset performance, reliability and long‑term value for the business.
  • Developing People & Capability - Play a key role in building engineering excellence by mentoring colleagues, supporting competency development and contributing to the creation of high‑quality technical training and guidance.
