This permanent role is based at Ansty Business Park, Coventry, where you'll sit within the Regulatory Strategy team and contribute to the development of regulatory and market frameworks that underpin the safe, efficient and commercially effective operation of our network. You'll support work that directly influences how revenue is recovered through developing charging methodologies for customers connecting and using the network, and how Cadent responds to future challenges such as decarbonisation, including biomethane, hydrogen and emerging energy systems.

You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business and externally with bodies such as Ofgem and industry partners, providing insight, analysis and thought leadership to support strategic decision making and shape how the business recovers costs from customers.

Why you'll love this role:

  • Regulatory Strategy & Thought Leadership – Contribute to the development of regulatory frameworks and industry reform that shape the future energy system with a particular focus on charging methodologies.
  • Market Development – Support initiatives linked to charging methodologies, emerging technologies and future market models.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Build relationships with regulators, industry bodies and internal stakeholders to influence outcomes.
  • Insight & Analysis – Interpret complex regulatory developments and translate them into clear business impacts and actions.
  • Regulatory Submissions – Support consultation responses, reporting and regulatory engagement activity.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work across strategy, operations, finance and engineering teams to embed regulatory requirements.
  • Future Focus – Contribute to work supporting decarbonisation, including biomethane, hydrogen and evolving energy frameworks.

What you'll bring:

  • Regulatory or Energy Sector Experience – Understanding of regulatory frameworks, ideally within utilities or energy.
  • Charging Methodology experience – Experience developing the rules for how we ensure fair and cost‑reflective charges to our customers.
  • Analytical Capability – Ability to interpret complex data and regulatory developments and turn them into actionable insight.
  • Communication Skills – Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
  • Stakeholder Influence – Experience working with senior stakeholders and external bodies.
  • Commercial Awareness – Understanding of pricing, charging frameworks or market structures (desirable).
  • Adaptability – Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving regulatory environment.

Benefits

  • Private Medical Insurance – For you, your partner and your family via MyChoices with access to a 24‑hour Bupa HealthLine.
  • 25 days’ holiday plus 8 statutory days and an option to buy or sell holiday days.
  • Annual Performance Bonus of up to 15% of your salary.
  • Pension scheme – Company double‑matches your contributions up to 12%.
  • Competitive salary reviewed yearly against the market median for your role, skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Generous family policies and flexible benefits.
  • Free Employee Assistance Line for confidential support and advice on personal challenges.
