Salary: £39,742 - £46,755 determined by a competency-based framework. Please note that we have a 12.84% pay increase agreed across the business, effective from 1st July 2023.

About The Role
We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Commercial directorate as a Cost Management Specialist. As a Cost Management Specialist, you will report directly into the Head of Commercial and will support in providing cost and commercial cost challenge across Cadent’s operations.
Being passionate about Cost Management, you will use your expertise to engage with our internal and external colleagues to support the delivery of regulatory and business objectives whilst identifying root causes of business performance issues and developing related process review/improvement opportunities to ensure business performance goals are achieved.
You can expect your day-to-day activities to regularly include managing multiple sub-projects such as:
- Identifying gaps in information
- Filling those gaps by using reliable multiple sources of data
- Discussing cost efficiency performance with operational area managers
- Updating and issuing reports on a variety of cost areas in the business including a narrative
Key Accountabilities
- Engaging with internal and external data sources to ensure and improve accurate cost reporting and analysis.
- Carrying out accurate cost reporting to deliver comprehensive information on internal and Contractor performance and value.
- Using cost measures and targets for activities to conduct continuous forecasting and monitoring.
- Ensuring costs are managed through reporting, communication, and management processes.
- Auditing and investigating internal activities and Contractor activities when required to provide assurance and demonstrate that regulatory reporting is underpinned by effective cost control.
- Engaging with Ops Management to deliver understanding of costs and variance to targets.
- Maintain and track cost efficiency benefits, tangible and non-tangible across Cadent.
- Maintain projects in Commercial in consideration of outcomes and deliverables for Cadent.
About You
- Degree level education or proven experience working in commercial discipline.
- Working knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
- Strong understanding of Commercial processes.
- An ability to identify and weigh up commercial risk.
- Prior experience of preparing cost analysis and narratives for Managers.
- Understanding of engineering surrounding Gas works undertakings and technology.
- Understands the importance of compliance with Regulations and Contracts.
- Consistently seeks opportunities for process and performance improvement.
