Shaping the future of the gas network through smart design and analysis
As a Design Analyst, you’ll be part of a dynamic team delivering key design and planning activities across the HSE Mains Replacement Programme (MRP), Governor Replacement Programme, and Associated Network Analysis. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring designs are safe, compliant and commercially sound, while helping to shape the future performance and sustainability of the network.
Working at the heart of operational delivery, you’ll contribute to innovative solutions that support environmental targets, reduce network shrinkage and improve customer outcomes.

Network Design & Analysis
Develop and produce compliant network designs using ESRI-based tools across a range of workstreams including MRP, Diversions, Non-Standard Connections and Reinforcement projects.
Real Impact on Network Performance
Influence future network design, supporting environmental performance, customer service outcomes and the ongoing development of network analysis models.
Risk & Compliance Focus
Complete detailed Design Risk Assessments, ensuring all hazards are identified and mitigated in line with safety, regulatory and company standards.
Commercial Awareness
Produce accurate cost estimates and apply cost-benefit thinking to support effective and efficient project delivery.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with internal teams and external partners, providing technical support, resolving queries and ensuring alignment across projects.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Manage design amendments, maintain accurate records within the Design Hub and ensure all reporting meets service level agreements and performance indicators.
What You’ll Bring
You’re a detail-oriented and proactive design professional with a strong understanding of network analysis and a commitment to high-quality delivery.
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in design and/or network analysis (gas or utilities preferred)
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Experience managing multiple priorities and responding to technical queries
- Understanding of change management and continuous improvement practices
- Ability to identify risks, resolve issues and escalated where appropriate
Technical Capability
- Proficient in tools such as ESRI, Visio, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience producing technical designs and cost estimates
- Good understanding of cost-benefit analysis principles
- Knowledge of design legislation, policies and safety regulations
- Experience maintaining design data and documentation systems
