Cadence Search are partnering exclusively with this leading construction company to appoint a strategic Construction Director in delivery of specialist bespoke developments across the South East of England. You will drive operational excellence across their project portfolio overseeing both existing and new projects that come on line. As Construction Director you will be in a pivotal role for the business moving forward as its projects for growth are set to triple over the next 4 year period.

Your role:

  • Plan, direct, and control all operational aspects across multiple residential projects.
  • Ensure all program requirements and deliverables meet the client stringent standards and expectations.
  • Lead the preparation and implementation of key management plans, including Project Execution Plans, Health and Safety Plans, and QA/QC procedures.
  • Assign responsibilities to senior team members in line with their expertise and project requirements, ensuring clear accountability.
  • Maintain strong client engagement, acting as the primary point of contact with the client and other key stakeholders.
  • Operate effectively in a high-demand environment, including extended working hours, as required by the client.
  • Identify project and program risks, including delays and cost overruns, and implement proactive mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Oversee site operations, including labour coordination, procurement, logistics, and commercial controls.
  • Ensure accurate and timely management of change orders, claims, and contractual documentation.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement across all projects under your leadership.
  • Monitor progress against milestones and KPIs, and provide clear reporting on performance, risks, and corrective actions to the Board.
  • Lead regular progress and coordination meetings with internal teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Support business development initiatives, including client relationship management and contribution to securing additional work.
  • Participate in staff evaluations, mentoring, and development planning to build and maintain a high-performing team.

Experience needed:

The successful candidate will have proven experience operating at either Director level or a Head of Construction position, with a strong track record of delivering complex schemes, ideally including both new build residential and refurbishment projects. A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.

You will bring strong leadership capability, excellent commercial awareness, and the confidence to make clear, decisive decisions. Experience using construction management software and systems is essential, alongside exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
