Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor - Birmingham

Our client are a leading Global Contractor or are currently seeking a proactive and organised individual responsible for ensuring all health and safety standards are met across this leading region.

As a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor you will be responsible for developing policies, providing training, conducting risk assessments and investigating incidents.

This role provides competent first line advice and support on health & safety matters to site, ensuring effective management of Health & Safety in respect of the companies standards.

Key Responsibilities

Developing and Implementing Health & Safety Policies

  • Support the Head of HSW, to create, manage and monitor comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures that comply with relevant legislation and industry best practices.

Training and Education

  • Providing training to staff and contractors on health and safety procedures, hazards, and emergency protocols.

Risk Assessments

  • Conducting thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.

* Site Inspections and Audits

  • Regularly inspecting construction sites to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and identify areas for improvement.

Incident Investigation

  • Investigating accidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.

Compliance

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.

* Communication and Liaison

  • Working with site managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to promote a positive health and safety culture.

Data Management

  • Maintaining accurate records of health and safety incidents, inspections, and training.

* Continuous Improvement

Strategic Planning

  • Contributing to the development of strategic plans for health and safety within the organization.
  • Compliance with HSE legislation and the companies health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Interface, communicate, liaise, and maintain effective relationships with SFEL HSE Management Team.
  • Produce reports and identify remedial action, ensuring effective implementation.
  • Ensure that Contractors employees, sub-contractors and suppliers all work in accordance with the companies health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor housekeeping standards across the Contract, identify and implement improvement activities.
  • Review and where necessary complete risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Audit the permit to work process to ensure that SFEL standards are maintained.
  • Provide COSHH assessments where required and ensure effectiveness of supply chain documentation.
  • Ensure that PPE is being used in accordance with the companies requirements.
  • Ensure that all emergency procedures and requirements are in place and are effective.
  • Ensure that the CDM Regulations are applied where necessary to the companies standards.
  • Undertake periodic HSE inspections for compliance to the compaines legal standards.
  • Support the businesses operational managers in the review of Contractors RAMS
