Sirona care & health, founded in 2011, is a community interest company that provides publicly funded community healthcare services across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. As the sole provider of NHS community services in the region, Sirona delivers care for both children and adults, supporting people in their homes, schools and local communities.

The organisation offers a broad range of services, including community nursing, therapy, children’s health services, urgent care, mental health services for people with learning disabilities, and end-of-life care, with a strong focus on keeping people independent and reducing avoidable hospital admissions. Sirona plays a central role in the local health and care system, serving a population of nearly one million people and employing over 3,500 staff, with an annual turnover of approximately £225m.

As a values‑led social enterprise, Sirona reinvests any surplus back into services, working closely with NHS partners and local authorities to deliver integrated, patient‑centred care and maintain its position as a key community healthcare provider in the region.

This pivotal board‑level role will ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery of Sirona's services, and lead organisational transformation to optimise Sirona's future strategic position. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this role provides executive leadership for service quality, patient safety, operational performance, and financial delivery.

The COO will be accountable not only for operational grip and performance recovery, but also for the success of the transformation programme that will underpin Sirona's future. It is vital that candidates understand how community health works, and are able to provide strong, credible and visible corporate leadership to both internal and external audiences.

You must show that you understand the relationship between productivity, performance and waiting lists, and that you can maintain a clear and consistent focus on improvement. Experience of effective and active engagement with commissioners, as well as an understanding of the range of funding formulas and contracting mechanisms, will be essential. And you must bring a nuanced and practical understanding of how to adapt operating models to different community contexts.
