We strongly encourage applications from women and underrepresented groups, and will actively pursue positive action where appropriate. We also welcome conversations about flexible working.

With unprecedented challenges facing communities across the UK, the prevalence of mild to moderate mental health conditions is increasing. Tragically, many people with serious mental illness aren't getting the help they need. At Mind, we're going to be fighting for mental health in a way we never have before. We've set ourselves some big goals for the coming years, and we're determined to make sure everyone experiencing a mental health problem across England and Wales gets the support and respect they deserve.

We're advocating for transformation in policy, healthcare and communities so that everyone has the chance to live a mentally healthy life. And because the world never stays still, we're adapting our approach so that we continue playing our part in addressing the mental health emergency.

This role exemplifies our determination to strengthen the whole organisation to maximise our impact and outcomes. Overseeing three expert teams of communicators, campaign planners and marketers, you'll ensure that everything we do contributes to sharing and amplifying the golden thread of our refined proposition and purpose.

You'll grasp the importance of an integrated approach that prioritises our message and strengthens brand awareness and recognition, and you'll recognise the vital role of data and analysis in developing an effective audience strategy.

Candidates will have an impressive track record of impact and innovation in a comparable setting; you need not have direct charity or mental health experience, but it's essential that you understand how to inspire and lead a dynamic, campaigning communications function.

Collaborative, compassionate, creative - yet challenging when appropriate - you'll bring a deep personal commitment to our work, excellent organisational skills (particularly under time or reputational pressure) and an assured senior style that's underpinned by expertise and experience. Muscle memory of leading crisis communications would be definite advantage, and you must be able to show that you can be effective across both short and medium timeframes.
