About the Homestead
The Homestead covers more than 15 acres, including Homestead Park and a number of buildings, such as gardener’s meeting rooms, a vehicle garage, glasshouses, and JRF’s head office.
Role Overview
We are looking for a visionary leader and collaborator to lead the transformation of the Homestead Estate and develop it as a living, breathing ecosystem where community, nature, and culture intersect and flourish together. You will develop and nurture the Homestead as an inclusive commons — a space for shared care, collective learning, and bold experimentation that supports changemakers, local groups, and JRF’s mission to imagine alternatives to broken systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the transformation of the Homestead Estate into a living, breathing ecosystem.
- Develop the Homestead as an inclusive commons for shared care, collective learning, and experimentation.
- Steward the estate’s physical and social fabric, including the restoration of historic buildings through regenerative retrofit.
- Open the grounds and buildings to community groups and local communities.
- Unlock the estate’s potential as a hub for ecological sustainability, creative collaboration, shared wellbeing, and prototyping.
Qualifications and Experience
- Natural connectors, enablers, and visionaries committed to stewarding place as an act of civic care.
- Direct experience of successfully managing and delivering a capital project.
- Experience in ecological sustainability, community collaboration, or related fields is desirable.
