Overview

We are working with a growing contractor to recruit a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial function across multiple live sites. Reporting directly to the Commercial Lead, this role will assist with the day-to-day commercial management of projects, with a particular focus on procurement, subcontractor administration, and payment processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS looking to develop their commercial knowledge within a supportive environment, gaining exposure to wider commercial reporting and business operations over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with procurement activities across 3–4 concurrent sites
  • Prepare and issue subcontractor enquiries and support package evaluations
  • Support the administration of subcontractor accounts, including valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Assist with managing and processing payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain cost tracking information and support project financial control
  • Provide support to the Commercial Lead with reporting and forecasting tasks
  • Liaise with site teams to ensure commercial activities align with project delivery
  • Utilise Excel and Construction Manager (Eque2) for reporting and cost management

About the Role

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or commercial support role within construction
  • Basic understanding of procurement and subcontractor management
  • Competent in Excel; experience with Eque2 (Construction Manager) advantageous
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Eager to learn and develop within a commercial environment
