The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Painter & Decorator / Dry Liner to join their team, working across Kent, London and Sussex. This is a varied role suited to an experienced tradesperson with strong practical skills across painting, decorating, surface preparation and dry lining. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel extensively between sites.
Due to the nature of the projects, candidates will also be required to successfully obtain enhanced BPSS and relevant security clearances.
Key Responsibilities
- Painting & Decorating
- Prepare surfaces for painting and decorating, including sanding, filling, stripping and cleaning
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains, wallpaper and other finishes to internal and external surfaces
- Repair and prepare damaged walls, ceilings, woodwork and other surfaces
- Complete all work to a high standard of workmanship
- Protect furniture, flooring, fixtures and fittings during works
- Carry out snagging, remedial and touch-up work as required
- Dry Lining
- Measure and accurately cut plasterboard for installation
- Install plasterboard to walls, ceilings, metal stud partitions and suspended ceiling systems
- Construct and install metal stud framing and partition systems
- Tape and joint plasterboard surfaces ready for finishing
- Install insulation materials where required
- Work in accordance with project specifications and relevant building regulations
- Repair and replace damaged plasterboard and partition systems
- General Duties
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications and work instructions
- Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools
- Follow all site health and safety procedures and company policies
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working environment
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors and colleagues
- Report material requirements, defects and project progress to supervisors
- Assist with other construction and maintenance duties where required
- Travel between sites across Kent, London, Sussex and the wider South East
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Painter & Decorator
- Practical experience in dry lining, partitioning and plasterboard installation
- Good knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation and finishing systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel regularly across multiple sites
- Ability to successfully obtain enhanced BPSS and relevant security clearances
- Good level of spoken and written English
Desirable Qualifications & Certifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating, Dry Lining or a related construction trade
- Valid CSCS Card
- IPAF certification
- PASMA certification
- Full UK Driving Licence
