The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a reliable and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Operative / Grounds Worker to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety and cleanliness of a variety of commercial, industrial and public sector sites across Kent, Sussex and London. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work and is comfortable travelling between different sites. Candidates must be happy and able to travel regularly across Kent, Sussex and London as part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Grass cutting, strimming and edging
- Hedge cutting and general hedge maintenance
- Weed control and vegetation management
- Tree and shrub maintenance
- Litter picking and general site clearance
- Maintaining pathways, car parks and external areas
- Safely operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment and machinery
- Supporting seasonal works, including gritting and leaf clearance
- Assisting with landscaping and general grounds maintenance activities
- Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with site and company procedures
- Completing work records and reporting any defects or site issues to supervisors
- Travelling between client sites across Kent, Sussex and London
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping or a similar outdoor environment
- Experience safely using grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters and leaf blowers
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Excellent timekeeping and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness and ability to travel across Kent, Sussex and London
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- PA1/PA6 Pesticide Application Certification
- NPTC Chainsaw Certification
- Previous experience working on MOD, commercial or public sector sites
- Trailer towing experience / relevant licence entitlement
- First Aid qualification
- Additional grounds maintenance or landscaping qualifications
