We are currently recruiting for an experienced Approved Electrician to work on a long-term commercial project within the defence sector in South Central. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled electricians with a strong commercial background who take pride in delivering high-quality installation, inspection and testing work to a high standard. Due to the nature of the project, successful candidates will be required to obtain BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance as a minimum. Candidates holding existing higher-level security clearance will be considered favourably.
Key Responsibilities
- Installing containment systems, including tray, basket, trunking and conduit
- Installing, glanding and terminating SWA and LV cabling
- Installing, altering and upgrading distribution boards (DBs)
- Carrying out power and lighting installations
- Undertaking inspection and testing of completed electrical works
- Completing relevant certification and documentation
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications
- Working safely and efficiently within a secure site environment
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and compliance throughout the project
Essential Requirements
- JIB Gold Card – Approved Electrician
- 18th Edition – BS 7671:2018+A2:2022
- City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 Inspection & Testing, or equivalent
- Proven commercial electrical installation experience
- Strong experience with containment, SWA installations and distribution boards
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
- Ability to successfully obtain BPSS clearance
- Full UK Driving Licence – preferred
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working on MOD, defence, nuclear or other high-security sites
- Current BPSS, SC or DV clearance
- Experience working within secure or highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with site-specific health and safety procedures and permit-to-work systems
