Commercial Gas Engineer – Building Services & Maintenance Location: London Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent The Opportunity We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established building services contractor seeking an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join their team, covering projects and maintenance contracts across London. Our client delivers a range of mechanical, electrical and building maintenance services across the Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Residential and Public Sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled Commercial Gas Engineer to undertake planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, fault finding and repairs across a variety of commercial properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring commercial heating and gas systems operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with current regulations. Key Responsibilities * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing and repairs on commercial gas and heating systems. * Diagnosing and resolving faults on commercial boilers, burners, heating systems and associated plant. * Undertaking commercial gas safety inspections and testing in accordance with current regulations. * Repairing and replacing defective components, valves, pumps and associated equipment. * Completing commissioning and recommissioning activities where appropriately qualified. * Maintaining and servicing commercial plantrooms and mechanical equipment. * Responding to reactive maintenance requests and breakdowns. * Identifying potential faults and recommending appropriate remedial works. * Ensuring compliance with gas safety regulations, manufacturer guidelines and relevant health and safety requirements. * Completing service reports, maintenance records and certification accurately. * Liaising with clients, facilities managers and site representatives. * Working independently and collaboratively with other engineers and maintenance teams. Essential Requirements * Proven experience working as a Commercial Gas Engineer within commercial building services or facilities maintenance. * Current Gas Safe registration with relevant commercial gas qualifications and competencies. * Strong technical knowledge of commercial boilers, burners, heating systems and associated plant. * Experience in planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, servicing and fault finding. * Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and gas-related faults independently. * Good understanding of commercial heating controls and associated mechanical systems. * Strong knowledge of current gas safety regulations and industry standards. * Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and manufacturer documentation. * Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively. * Full UK Driving Licence. * Willingness to travel to various sites across London. Desirable Qualifications & Experience Commercial gas qualifications such as COCN1, CODNCO1, ICPN1, TPCP1A and CIGA1, as applicable to the work undertaken. Experience working on commercial boilers, plantrooms and large-scale heating systems. Knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, valves and Building Management Systems (BMS). Experience working within Healthcare, NHS, Education, MOD, Defence or Public Sector environments. Previous experience working in live or operational buildings. Experience with commercial heating installations and commissioning. Relevant plumbing, heating or mechanical engineering qualifications. CSCS Card. IPAF or PASMA certification. Existing security clearance or ability to obtain relevant clearance where required.
