Setting Out Engineer (Own Total Station Required) – One-Day Contract

Our client is looking for an experienced Setting Out Engineer for a one-day freelance contract on a construction project.

The successful candidate must have their own Total Station surveying equipment and be confident carrying out a drainage invert level survey.

The Role

The primary responsibility of this assignment is to undertake a drainage invert level survey, measuring the precise height of the inside bottom of drainage pipes and manholes.

This survey is essential for assessing water flow, drainage gradients and confirming system connectivity.

You will be responsible for accurately recording

  • Cover levels (ground surface height).
  • Invert levels (the height of the inside bottom of pipes/manholes).
  • Invert depths (the vertical distance from ground level to the pipe invert).
  • Drainage gradients between chambers.
  • Any additional survey information required by the Site Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out an accurate drainage invert level survey using your own Total Station.
  • Record and verify survey measurements to a high standard of accuracy.
  • Interpret site drawings and drainage layouts where required.
  • Produce clear and accurate survey records.
  • Liaise with the Site Manager regarding survey findings.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with site health and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer.
  • Previous experience undertaking drainage invert level surveys.
  • Own Total Station equipment (essential).
  • Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and drainage plans.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
