The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Multi-Trade Operative to join their team, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, refurbishment, repair and installation works across a range of client sites. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to an experienced all-round tradesperson with skills across carpentry, general building, painting and decorating, minor plumbing and external maintenance. The successful candidate will work across commercial, industrial and public sector environments, supporting both planned maintenance programmes and larger project teams where required. Regular travel across the South Central region is an essential part of the role, with occasional overnight stays depending on project location.
Key Responsibilities
- General Maintenance
- Undertake planned and reactive maintenance works
- Complete refurbishment and repair works within occupied and unoccupied properties
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications and work instructions
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with relevant regulations and site procedures
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Complete job sheets, reports and timesheets accurately
- Liaise professionally with clients, site teams and building users
- Ensure work areas are clean, safe and left in a satisfactory condition

Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and site procedures
- Complete risk assessments and dynamic risk assessments where required
- Wear and maintain appropriate PPE
- Report hazards, accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in a safe condition
- Follow RAMS and permit-to-work procedures where applicable
- Maintain a safe working environment for colleagues, clients and building users
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a recognised construction trade
- CSCS Card
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience within construction, maintenance or facilities management
- Proven experience working across multiple trades
- Experience within commercial, industrial or public sector environments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Strong practical knowledge of general building maintenance

- Good understanding of building maintenance techniques
- Knowledge of construction materials and methods
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Competent and safe use of hand and power tools
