Small Works Manager Location: Hampshire (with travel to various project sites) Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent The Opportunity We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established and growing contractor seeking an experienced Small Works Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with a background in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E), Building Services or multi-disciplinary construction to oversee the delivery of projects across the Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Residential and Public Sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining health and safety compliance and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard. Key Responsibilities * Managing the day-to-day delivery of small works and M&E construction projects. * Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, labour, materials and site activities. * Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with agreed programmes, budgets and specifications. * Overseeing mechanical and electrical installations, including HVAC, heating, ventilation, pipework and general building works. * Maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, including CDM 2015 and RAMS. * Conducting site inspections, toolbox talks and progress meetings. * Monitoring project progress, identifying potential delays and implementing solutions. * Managing quality control, snagging, defects and project handovers. * Supporting commercial activities, including variations, cost control and resource management. * Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders. * Managing works within live and operational environments while minimising disruption. Essential Requirements * Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a Small Works Manager, Site Manager or similar construction management role. * Experience delivering M&E, Building Services or multi-disciplinary construction projects. * Strong understanding of site management, subcontractor coordination and project delivery. * Good technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical installations. * Experience working within live or operational environments. * Strong knowledge of construction health and safety regulations. * SMSTS – Essential. * Asbestos Awareness – Essential. * Full UK Driving Licence – Essential. * Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills. * Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. * Willingness to travel to various project locations. Desirable Experience & Qualifications * CSCS Manager Card. * First Aid at Work. * Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services background. * Previous experience working on MOD, Defence, NHS, Education or Public Sector projects. * Knowledge of HTM, JSP 375, CIBSE and BSRIA standards. * Experience managing projects within hospitals, schools or secure environments. * Existing security clearance or ability to obtain relevant clearance.
