Painter & Decorator – Commercial & Residential Location: London, South East & Home Counties Travel: Mobile Role The Opportunity We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established contractor seeking an experienced Painter & Decorator to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled tradesperson with a strong background in painting, decorating and dry lining to join a professional team delivering projects across the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality painting, decorating, surface preparation and dry lining works, ensuring all projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards. This is a mobile position requiring travel to various sites across London, the South East and Home Counties. Candidates should be comfortable with regular travel of at least two hours per day. Please note: Candidates must be able to successfully obtain the required security clearances, including enhanced BPSS screening where applicable. Key Responsibilities Painting & Decorating Preparing surfaces for painting and decorating, including sanding, filling, stripping and cleaning. Applying paints, varnishes, stains, wallpapers and other finishes to internal and external surfaces. Repairing and preparing damaged walls, ceilings, woodwork and other surfaces. Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard of workmanship. Protecting furniture, flooring, fixtures and fittings throughout the works. Carrying out snagging, remedial and touch-up works as required. Dry Lining Measuring, cutting and installing plasterboard to walls and ceilings. Installing metal stud partitions and suspended ceiling systems. Constructing and installing metal stud framing and partition systems. Taping and jointing plasterboard surfaces ready for finishing. Installing insulation materials where required. Repairing and replacing damaged plasterboard and partition systems. Ensuring all dry lining works comply with project specifications and relevant building regulations. General Responsibilities * Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and work instructions. * Operating and maintaining hand and power tools safely. * Ensuring compliance with site health and safety procedures. * Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment. * Working collaboratively with site management, contractors and other trades. * Reporting material requirements, defects and project progress to supervisors. * Supporting additional construction and maintenance activities where required. * Travelling between project sites across London, the South East and Home Counties. Essential Requirements * Proven experience working as a Painter & Decorator within residential, commercial or industrial environments. * Practical experience in dry lining, plasterboard installation and partitioning. * Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation and finishing systems. * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. * Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. * Strong organisational and time management skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team. * Good communication skills and a professional approach. * Willingness to travel regularly to various project locations. * Ability to successfully obtain the required security clearances, including enhanced BPSS screening where applicable. Desirable Qualifications & Experience * NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating, Dry Lining or a related construction trade. * Valid CSCS Card. * IPAF, PASMA or other relevant site certifications. * Full UK Driving Licence. * Previous experience working on commercial refurbishment, maintenance or specialist construction projects. * Experience working within secure or high-security environments.
