Caddick Construction is a forward-thinking, family-owned main contractor delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors. With strong regional growth across the North West, we are looking for a Document Controller to join our Warrington team and support the successful delivery of multiple construction projects. This role is essential in ensuring that our project information is accurate, compliant, and effectively managed across the full construction lifecycle.

The Role

As a Document Controller, you will be responsible for administering and maintaining our Common Data Environment (CDE) across multiple projects. This includes system set-up, document workflows, data security, quality assurance checks, and supporting project teams with accurate and timely documentation. You will play a key role in ensuring information flow is controlled, compliant, and aligned with project deadlines — supporting Design Managers, Project Managers, wider teams, consultants, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up project CDEs including workflows, user access, and security groups.
  • Complete initial QA checks on all uploaded information.
  • Visit site regularly to ensure hard copy drawings and documents are current.
  • Prepare document submission packs and manage quality/project documentation.
  • Maintain revision histories, drawing logs, and key tracking databases.
  • Issue weekly project reports including outstanding information and RFIs.
  • Monitor submission dates and report compliance.
  • Support Design and Project Managers with RFIs, technical submissions and close-out documentation.
  • Assist in producing and distributing client design reports.
  • Create work package folders and maintain structured digital filing.
  • Upload and file Health & Safety documentation including RAMS, inspections, NCRs and registers.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Train employees and external users on the documentation system.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proactively “own” all project drawings and documents within the CDE.

About You

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience working on construction projects with a strong understanding of documentation systems.
  • Experience using Viewpoint/4Projects (essential); Fieldview desirable.
  • Understanding of construction terminology, processes, and workflows.

Personal Qualities

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines.
  • High attention to detail with a methodical approach.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to support and train others.
  • Able to work independently and travel to Warrington and regional sites daily.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
  • Experience setting up Viewpoint/4P workflows and security groups.
  • Full UK driving licence.
