We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join our North West team due to a number of exciting new projects across the North West region.
This role would work on projects across the Industrial, Logistics, Residential and Commercial sectors.

- What You’ll Do
- Pre-Construction
- Develop technically compliant, cost-effective and innovative design solutions that meet client requirements and support successful tender submissions.
- Review tender documentation to identify risks, opportunities, design gaps and technical challenges.
- Prepare and manage Contractor's Proposals, design information, qualifications and supporting documentation for tender submissions.
- Assist with bid management from initial enquiry through to contract award.
- Oversee enquiries for subcontractor designed packages and assess technical submissions.
- Evaluate consultant appointments, ensuring appropriate scope, responsibilities and contractual terms are in place.
- Attend client meetings and contractor interviews, providing technical expertise throughout the bid process.
- Promote value engineering initiatives to maximise project value while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Construction Phase
- Lead and manage the design process throughout project delivery, ensuring designs are coordinated, buildable and delivered in accordance with programme requirements.
- Manage relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Chair and coordinate design team meetings, ensuring actions are tracked and design programmes maintained.
- Prepare and manage the Project Information Release Schedule and Design Responsibility Matrix.
- Identify and resolve design coordination issues, interface risks and construction challenges.
- Ensure Health & Safety, CDM Regulations, Building Regulations and Building Safety Act requirements are incorporated into all design decisions.
- Manage Technical Submissions, Requests for Information (RFIs) and document control processes.
- Support project teams during mobilisation and construction, ensuring a smooth transition from pre-construction to delivery.
- Provide ongoing technical support throughout construction and assist with client reporting where required.
What We're Looking For
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience working as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager for a main contractor.
- Strong experience delivering Design & Build, new build and refurbishment projects.
- Excellent understanding of construction methods, technical detailing and design management processes.
- Good knowledge of CDM Regulations, Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act and sustainability standards including BREEAM.
- Experience managing consultant teams, specialist subcontractors and document management systems.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to identify risk, opportunity and value engineering solutions.
- Competent in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience using Auto CAD Viewer, Bluebeam and Asta Powerproject (or similar) would be advantageous.
- Relevant degree in Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIOB, RICS, ICE or RIBA is desirable.
- Relevant CSCS Card and Full UK Driving Licence.
