Caddick Construction is a family‑owned business renowned for quality, integrity, and innovation in the construction sector. We are seeking an Apprentice Accountant to join our Finance team in Wakefield. The successful candidate will work towards achieving:
- AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting (if required)
- AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting
- AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting
This role is designed to develop practical accounting skills, professional behaviours, and technical knowledge to build a long‑term career in finance. We would expect the candidate to continue studying onto the ACCA course to become a Chartered Certified Accountant.
What You’ll Do
- Finance Administration & Processing
- Accurately record daily financial transactions
- Process purchase invoices, supplier payments, and receipts
- Assist with sales invoicing and credit control administration
- Maintain organised financial records and filing systems
- Process employee expenses in line with company procedures
- Vehicle leasing invoice & fuel invoice processing
- Reconciliations & Controls
- Assist with bank reconciliations
- Help identify and investigate discrepancies
- Ensure transactions are properly documented and authorised
- Support adherence to internal financial controls and company procedures
- Reporting Support
- Assist with preparation of monthly cost reports
- Provide accurate data for management reporting
- Support budgeting and variance tracking exercises
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end processes
- Learning & Development
- Attend college / training provider sessions as required
- Complete coursework, assessments, and examinations for AAT studies
- Apply learning from studies within the workplace
- Demonstrate continuous improvement in accounting knowledge and professional skills
- Team Support
- Provide administrative support to the wider finance team
- Communicate professionally with internal departments and external suppliers
- Support smooth workflow within the finance function
