We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee civil engineering projects in the North East, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role requires a hands-on leader with expertise in Earthworks, Roads & Sewers, and groundworks up to DPC on industrial/commercial projects. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of site operations, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to inspire a workforce to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Health, Safety, and Compliance: Promote and maintain a culture of safety on-site, adhering to Health and Safety standards and best practices. Conduct regular safety and quality inspections, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Hold a minimum of SMSTS, First Aid at Work qualifications, and a relevant CSCS card.
- Project Management and Supervision: Supervise and motivate directly employed teams and subcontractors to achieve project objectives. Monitor project progress, prepare valuations, and provide regular updates to senior management. Take a proactive approach to day-to-day problem-solving and resolve any site issues promptly.
- Technical Oversight: Oversee and coordinate Earthworks, Roads & Sewers, foundations up to DPC and associated external works. Review and prepare site reports, designs, and drawings to ensure accuracy and alignment with project requirements. Conduct take-offs and order materials from supply chains, ensuring timely delivery.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with clients, providing progress updates and maintaining strong working relationships. Represent Caddick Civil Engineering at site meetings, ensuring client satisfaction and project alignment.
- IT and Reporting: Use IT tools such as Word, Excel, and project management software to manage reports, schedules, and documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in civil engineering site management, with expertise in Earthworks, Roads & Sewers on industrial/commercial projects.
- Strong understanding of Health and Safety in the construction environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
- Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience in project scheduling tools.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize tasks to meet deadlines effectively.
