Head of Client Services – Direct Mail

Central London

Office-based (1 day per week hybrid)

I’m supporting a well-established organisation in the print & marketing communications sector as they recruit a dynamic Head of Client Services to lead their Client Services function and drive exceptional service delivery across major accounts.

This is a pivotal leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, production-led environment and has deep expertise across Direct Mail, Transactional Mail, data, litho, digital print and finishing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Account Managers, ensuring outstanding service, smooth workflow and strong client relationships.
  • Oversee the delivery of client projects from briefing through to invoicing, ensuring compliance, accuracy and timely documentation.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, attend review meetings and identify opportunities for improved service and revenue growth.
  • Ensure all invoicing is completed efficiently with full cost capture and escalation when required.
  • Manage team performance, resource allocation, training and development.
  • Support onboarding of new contracts and collaborate closely with sales, operations and production teams.
  • Produce monthly client and departmental performance reports.
  • Drive continuous improvement across processes, systems and client experience.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Head of Client Services or Director/Manager of Account Management within Direct Mail or related print/marketing communications.
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence dealing with senior stakeholders and board-level clients.
  • A detailed understanding of DM workflows — including data, laser, digital print, litho, finishing and campaign-led communications.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects, solve problems quickly and lead teams with confidence and clarity.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Experience using MIS platforms (ideally Shuttleworth) and strong Microsoft/Outlook skills.
  • Up to £75-80,000 for the right candidate.
