Credit Strategy Manager – Fixed Term (8 Months) / Secondment (Utilities Sector)
Salary: £64–£74k + Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits
We are recruiting for a Credit Strategy Manager to lead the household portfolio strategy for a major organisation in the Utilities Sector. This role involves managing a customer base worth billions in revenue and cash, driving effective debt recovery, and ensuring proactive risk management. You will play a key part in supporting the transition to a new debt management system and advanced data environment, while leading a team through change and collaborating closely with senior leaders across the business to turn insights into actionable strategy.
The role is currently to support a 6‑month FTC with a month eitherside for handovers & support. The business might have the opportunity to extend/go perm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and own the household credit portfolio strategy to drive strong debt recovery and risk management.
- Monitor and report portfolio performance across direct and indirect billing, including pre‑arrears, collections and outsourced recovery.
- Lead the development of new and existing credit strategies, supporting major transformation projects and implementation of new systems.
- Create and deliver customer segmentation strategies to ensure tailored support for different customer groups.
- Oversee delivery of MI and insights through daily, weekly and monthly reporting to support decision‑making and portfolio optimisation.
- Act as owner of credit strategy policy and a key stakeholder within credit governance forums, ensuring robust oversight and controls.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in credit strategy, bad debt, portfolio management and performance improvement.
- Strong background leading change within complex or regulated environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships.
- Experience leading, developing and motivating high‑performing teams.
- Analytical problem‑solver with strong planning skills.
- Skilled in managing budgets.
- Desirable: Experience in the Utilities or Financial Services sectors, and SQL/SAS knowledge.
