The Role An existing opportunity exists for an ambitious individual to join our growing team based in North Yorkshire. This important role will develop your skills and abilities to provide accredited Digital Forensic Investigation and Proficiency Testing services within the Law Enforcement Sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilising digital forensic equipment to capture, process and analyse data within an accredited laboratory environment or at scene/client locations.
  • Producing high quality forensic reports/statements containing findings and present your evidence in Court.
  • Assisting in the operation of CACI's digital forensic proficiency testing services, performing a range of processes such as the preparation of test items and associated documentation, delivery/collection activities, examination and evaluation of completed test devices and production of reports.
  • Working in compliance with departmental and organisational policies and standards – ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17043, Forensic Science Regulators Code of Practice and ILAC G19.
  • Actively contributing to the continual improvement of the quality management system (QMS), assisting with quality and technical compliance activities to ensure the accuracy of results produced by the Laboratory.
  • Performing administrative duties relating to digital forensic activities, including the collection and delivery tasks.
  • Assist with activities relating to the upkeep of the laboratory's technical infrastructure.
  • Complete training and achieve/maintain all competencies defined for the role of Digital Forensic Analyst, or required for the post holder.
  • Contribute to the development of digital forensic laboratory services and capabilities by actively performing environmental horizon scanning, research and development into digital forensic methods, tools, risks and opportunities.
  • Attending conferences and training to ensure that DFL are class leaders in digital forensics services and emerging issues.

The Fit:

  • Educated to, or working towards a degree level qualification in a digital forensic, or computer science based discipline, or experience of working within a digital forensic laboratory or policing environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of common operating systems, file systems (Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS & Linux), applications and networking technologies.
  • Knowledge/Experience of conducting digital forensic processes, using a range of forensic hardware and software tools, applications and techniques.
  • Knowledge and understanding of established principles and best practices, ISO/IEC 17043, ISO/IEC17025, Forensic Science Regulator Code of Practice, ILAC G19 and other related guidance documents applicable to Digital Forensics.
  • Full current UK/European driving licence and willingness or experience of travelling for work purposes.

Due to the industries we work in, we require all our team to be able to obtain security clearance. To qualify for this, you must be a British passport holder and have lived permanently in the UK for the last 5 years.

Additional Role Demands:

  • Applicants should be aware that this role may involve the exposure to material of an extremely offensive and distressing nature.
  • Requirement for occasional travel to perform digital forensic work at scene/locations outside the Digital Forensics laboratory, involving some overnight stays.
  • Ability to cope working under pressure and time constraints in this uniquely challenging environment.
  • Agility and coordination in handling equipment and evidence as required.
  • May be required to lift a variety of computer items, and sit/stand for extended periods of time.
